Similar to sector peers Randgold Resources Ltd. (NASDAQ: GOLD) and IAMGOLD Corporation (NYSE: IAG), Yamana Gold Inc. (NYSE: AUY) has attracted recent attention in the options pits.

According to data from WhatsTrading.com, the commodities concern saw about 18,300 calls change hands on Thursday, more than doubling its average single-session volume of roughly 8,800 contracts. The optimistic uprising of late is reflected in the stock's Schaeffer's put/call open interest ratio (SOIR) of 0.38, which implies that calls more than double their put rivals among near-term options.
