Clear Channel Radio Opens New York’s Newest Exclusive Performance Space

Clear Channel Radio today opens New York City’s newest exclusive performance space: the P.C. Richard & Son Theater. The 5,500 square-foot, street-level performance space will serve as the live performance home for Clear Channel Radio’s New York-based radio stations – Z100, Q104.3, 106.7 Lite-fm, Power 105.1 and WKTU – as well as the east-coast home for iheartradio original productions, including the company’s stripped and NEW! performances.

Each time an artist visits the P.C. Richard & Son Theater, the corresponding radio stations will extensively promote the co-branded event on-air and on-line for millions of listeners to hear weekly. From VIP ticket giveaways to artist meet-and-greets, listeners will also get the chance to win tickets to these private performances by listening to on-air, on-line, and mobile broadcasts as well as special in-store P.C. Richard & Son promotions.

“We look forward to developing the P.C. Richard & Son Theater into a New York icon,” said Gregg Richard, president of the leading electronics and appliance store chain. “This theater will provide a wonderful venue for our customers and Clear Channel Radio listeners to enjoy private performances from top recording artists.”

P.C. Richard & Son purchased naming rights to the theater under a multi-year commitment announced in February. Under that agreement, the retailer will also have the opportunity to co-promote events including Z100’s Z Lounges; Power 105.1’s Power Radio Live; Up Close & Personal with 106.7 Lite-fm; and intimate events for Q104.3 and WKTU.

* Established and emerging artists

The theater’s inaugural live performance tonight is Tinted Windows – the new “super group” including Taylor Hanson of Hanson, James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins, Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick, and Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne. The theater will also play host to up-and-coming artists not yet heard on radio. Many performances will be recorded and made available to the company’s network of millions of on-line, mobile and on-air listeners.

“We’ve created a truly world-class studio and performance space,” said Evan Harrison, executive vice president of Clear Channel Radio and president of the company’s digital division. “Not only will we produce intimate events for our New York listeners, but this theater will serve as a national content creation and distribution hub.”

“Clear Channel Radio is committed to investing in the most innovative, highest-quality programming to listeners and most valuable advertising opportunities to sponsors,” said Joe Puglise, president and market manager at Clear Channel Radio. “It’s only fitting that the most incredible city for music in the country have this kind of performance space.”

The P.C. Richard & Son Theater – located inside Clear Channel Radio’s New York headquarters in the city’s fashionable TriBeCa district – accommodates up to 220 people and is available for private events. Housed in the iconic, art deco building created in 1933 as the world headquarters of AT&T, the space was originally built as a rest area and dance hall for AT&T telephone operators.
