Research and Markets: Glocap Search Releases First Ever Compensation Report Focusing On Administrative/Support Staff

Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/46d071/2009_glocap_admini) has announced the addition of the "2009 Glocap Administrative/Support Staff Compensation Report" report to their offering.

New York, NY: March 23, 2009: Glocap Search LLC has released the 2009 Administrative/Support Staff Compensation Report. This inaugural report is an in-depth analysis of compensation and hiring trends across various industries in several U.S. geographies. It includes compensation data for Receptionists, Administrative Assistants, Office Managers, Executive Assistants and several newly created blended roles

Shauna Swerland, partner at Glocap, notes that while the effects of the economic downturn on front office personnel have been well documented, the impact on support staff has not received as much attention. She estimates overall compensation for administrative professionals is down due to current market conditions. Swerland adds that companies have made dramatic changes in their hiring strategies vis-à-vis their support staff. "Rather than adding to existing staff, we've seen companies running as lean as possible. At the admin level that has, in many cases, meant companies are adding responsibilities to existing staff instead of bringing on new hires," she says.

The results of the Report clearly show that compensation for administrative professionals is driven by their specific role, the industry in which they work and the city where they are based. Among the highlights of the report are:

For nearly all roles, administrative professionals in financial industries can earn 20-30% more than their counterparts in the more creative industries (publishing, advertising and fashion).

In most cases Executive Assistants are the most highly compensated administrative professionals. In some industries, however, Office Managers are the top earners. Executive Assistants at New York-based hedge funds earn, on average, $20,000 more than Executive Assistants at law firms.

A unique characteristic of the Glocap report is that it does not derive its compensation data strictly from a survey, but rather from a combination of actual placements executed by the firm, candidate data maintained by Glocap in the course of its search business and input from Glocap recruiters, fund professionals and human resources personnel.
