Celanese Leadership Realignment Expands Key Roles to Drive Productivity and Value Creation

Celanese Corporation (NYSE:CE), a leading global chemical company, today announced a realignment of its executive leadership team to support its ongoing productivity efforts and position the company for sustainable long-term value creation. As a result of the realignment, the roles of Sandy Beach Lin and Doug Madden have been expanded.

Sandy Beach Lin has been named corporate executive vice president and will assume executive responsibility for Celanese’s Consumer Specialties segment in addition to her current executive role with the Advanced Engineered Materials segment. These segments represent the company’s consumer-driven businesses.

Beach Lin joined Celanese in June of 2007, responsible for the Advanced Engineered Materials segment. Over her 27-year career, she has held significant business roles with Avery Dennison Corporation, Alcoa, and Honeywell International.

Doug Madden has been named corporate executive vice president and will assume executive responsibility for Celanese’s Acetyl Intermediates segment and continue to maintain responsibility for the Industrial Specialties segment. These business segments are the core of the company’s leading, global acetyl chain. Madden has held various leadership roles of increasing responsibility within Celanese over a 25-year career with the company.

John J. Gallagher III, president of Acetyl Intermediates, has announced he will leave Celanese to pursue other opportunities, but will remain with the company during a transition phase through the end of March.

“This realignment builds on the strength of Celanese’s franchises and Sandy and Doug’s global leadership capabilities. They are committed to value creation for our shareholders and demonstrate Celanese’s core values with a track record of execution,” said Dave Weidman, chairman and chief executive officer of Celanese.
