CalAmp Corp. (Nasdaq:CAMP), a leading provider of wireless products, services, and solutions, announced today that it has resumed product shipments to its historically largest customer.
As previously announced, CalAmp experienced a product performance issue affecting certain Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) equipment manufactured by CalAmp for this customer. In addressing this matter, the customer returned product to CalAmp for corrective action and put on hold all orders for CalAmp equipment pending the requalification of the products. As previously reported, in December 2007 CalAmp reached a settlement agreement with the customer that addressed the financial and rework aspects of the product performance issue. This was followed by the customer requalifying CalAmp’s designs for the affected products, which paved the way for the resumption of shipments.
Rick Gold, CalAmp’s President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "I am very pleased to report that we have resumed our commercial relationship with what has historically been our largest customer. This initial shipment was for a small quantity, but we expect the volume will ramp up over the next several quarters. Resolving this issue has been CalAmp’s highest priority and with this milestone behind us, our focus shifts to rebuilding our competitive position in the DBS market. The hard work over the past year has laid the foundation for profitable growth at CalAmp and I want to thank our employees for their dedicated efforts.”
