With new bodies and a collective weight loss of 588 pounds, the seven remaining contestants on NBC’s popular reality show – “The Biggest Loser:Couples” – get a high-fashion makeover on the March 18 episode with the help of style guru and “Project Runway” mentor, Tim Gunn, and great looks from Macy’s. The makeovers culminate in an emotional fashion show where special guests surprise the contestants when they reach the end of the runway.
“This has been the best day since we’ve been here,” says Kelly, a contestant who at last count lost 69 pounds. “To be able to see the transformation – the changes in us – it’s amazing. It’s just an awesome experience.”
The contestant’s makeovers were also captured in a photo shoot with Prevention magazine, and all seven were given a $1,000 Macy’s gift card to help update their wardrobes for their new, slimmer figures.
“When we got the call about this opportunity to ‘make over’ the final seven Biggest Loser contestants, we jumped at the chance,” says Peter Sachse, president, Macy’s Corporate Marketing. “These individuals have made an incredible and inspiring journey to improve their health and qualities of life. We did the easiest part, which was to help them achieve a new outer style – a new look and confidence to go with their new shapes. It was an extremely gratifying event, and we are glad Macy’s could be a part of it.”
