Coach Mike Lotief and Swing Attractors Announce and Explain the Motion Analysis Process for Baseball Hitters

By: Get News
Coach Mike with Swing Attractors has created a biomechanics software that filters and analyzes the motion capture data of a baseball hitter’s swing and then processes it so the Coach and player can visualize it on a user-friendly dashboard that is synchronized with the high-speed video of the hitter’s swing.

Swing Attractors created a biomechanics software and process of computations, calculations, key performance indicators that helps analyze a hitter’s movement pattern.

During the 2022-2023 M.L.B. season, Lotief worked with Tim Hyers, Hitting Coach for the 2023 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS, Texas Rangers. Mike & Tim discussed hitting ideas and looked at hitting data, pouring through it manually at first, then interpreting it afterwards & coming up with the most simple, effective actionable interventions for each hitter in the line-up.

From this motion analysis, Swing Attractors formulated precise conclusions and gives specific solutions/answers to the Coach &/or player.

“Data collection, motion capture & motion analysis are very time consuming. Spend less time wrestling with technology; take the data sitting on the shelf now and get a visualization of your hitter’s movement profile on Swing Attractor’s user-friendly dashboard”, recommends Lotief.

Swing Attractors does motion analysis to help assist the coach reinforce cleaner functional movements that results in a more powerful, consistent, explosive swing.

“Motion capture, technology, analysis tools & data driven solutions have proven to be incredibly valuable and provide laser precision insights that eliminate the guessing game when evaluating hitters. Swing Attractors uses a process & systems approach specific to how great baseball hitters move using computations and calculations of key performance indicators on a user-friendly interface/dashboard”, according to Lotief.

Goal of good MOTION ANALYSIS

The goal of good motion analysis is to make small adjustments that result in measurable effects. Swing Attractors objective is to suggest the smallest adjustment or simplest intervention possible that will have the greatest impact or make the most difference in the overall movement pattern.

What intervention will attract the best motor synergy? It may be: “don’t do that” or introducing a proprietary hitting device to give the hitter a FEEL without any explanation or a bunch of complicated words. Instead of talking mechanics, stay focused on movement patterns and reality-based FEELS.

The goal is to turn a hitter’s inefficiency or detractor into a SWING ATTRACTOR.

Using data & motion analysis is not to “prescribe” how to move; instead, it is to “diagnose” why. Motion analysis gives meaning to what the hitter is feeling; it gives purpose and structure to the hitter’s protocols.

Data and motion analysis captures a hitter’s “A” swing and preserves it FOREVER. It documents the hitter’s progression and development with objective measurements. There is a PERCEPTION-REALITY GAP; meaning a hitter’s feel can be very divorced from the actual data.

Conclusion

Good hitters “FEEL” their best movement patterns and then lose it. Here today, then gone tomorrow – then the constant struggle to find it again. Great hitters “KNOW” their best movement patterns and NEVER LOSE IT.

The data and motion analysis helps good hitters become great by helping them understand what they “remember feeling”.
