Santa Cruz County Republican Central Committee Welcomes New Members and a New Chair

By: PRLog

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - March 1, 2023 - PRLog -- The Santa Cruz County Republican Central Committee ("Santa Cruz Republicans") welcomes new members and a new Chair.  Committee appointees include small business owner Natalain Schwartz, a recent candidate for the Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board, Tom Decker, a Regional Operations manager at BAM Homes, and James Strickland, a former brand, design and communications consultant.  Peter Coe Verbica, a Certified Financial Planner® who works at Silicon Private Wealth, steps up as the Committee's new Chair.

Verbica won a top-two slot in the 2022 primary election, running as the Republican Board of Equalization, District 2 candidate which covers 19 counties.  He is the former President of the California Congress of Republicans, a grassroots organization chartered by the CAGOP.  "Our Santa Cruz Republicans Committee offers an oasis for fiscally conservative, and common-sense voters.  As our former Chairwoman, Kristen Collishaw likes to say, 'welcome home.'  We're the outstretched hand which offers hope and sanity," says Verbica.

The new chair envisions Santa Cruz Republicans increasing their candidates in the next election cycle.  He believes that the foremost goal of the Committee is to support Republicans of all stripes to run for local fire districts, water boards, special districts, city councils, supervisorial boards, law enforcement, judgeship positions, and more.

Handing over the reins, former Santa Cruz Republicans' Chairwoman Kristen Collishaw shares her positive opinion of Verbica and the new appointees. "We're delighted to have Peter Verbica take over the helm.  He's collegial, smart, a team player, and brings the experience of someone who has served on boards and committees.  We're also looking forward to our appointees Natalain, Tom and Jim to bring a renewed vitality to the Republican presence here in Santa Cruz County."

Verbica is no stranger to politics.  He served as a Republican Presidential Elector in the 2018 election, on the CAGOP Platform Committee, as a State Delegate, and will be on the CAGOP Executive Committee.  He believes in the Ronald Reagan approach of looking for the 80% upon which Republicans can agree, rather than bickering over smaller differences.  Verbica also believes that many independent and Republican voters are unaware of double-digit improvements in 2022 statewide election results and the fact that for non-statewide offices, there is a much closer parity between both parties in terms of seats held.

"We're looking to strengthen our friendship with other Republican organizations here in Santa Cruz County, including the California College Republicans, the Santa Cruz Women Federated, and the Central Coast Congress of Republicans.  We're stronger when we work together," Verbica states.  "If you're interested in making a difference in your community, please reach out to us.  We have some great events coming up this year, including our annual BBQ and pancake breakfast.  And, we have a monthly Santa Cruz Republicans Meetup near the Crow's Nest."  He concludes, "It's a great chance to learn what we're up to and, most importantly, have fun in the process."
