The film producer and director releases this project with hopes of spreading awareness of domestic abuse.
Using media as a reliable medium to spread awareness of the rising domestic violence cases has enabled Mena Monroe to work on releasing a heart-stirring story entitled If I Can't. The Detroit raised triple treat affectionately known as “Miss Tubi” for her many cult following indie films, mixes her past experiences with a dangerous love as an eye opener for anyone in a similar situation. She urges her platform of over 300,000 social media followers to not ignore warning signs.
Along with her brother and business partner, producer Shawn “Storytaler” Lyles they plan to largely distribute their new film & push domestic violence awareness. The storyline follows a young woman, in search for love after a tragedy, who finds it in the hands of a sadistic abuser. Although written out of the pain of a survivor, Monroe's objective was to paint a picture so vivid & raw that those watching will heed warning signs.
"I have always been passionate about making life-changing and eye-opening movies for my audience. I have continued to push the independent film market with my fresh and relatable films," shares Monroe.
She has always been keen and interested in highlighting the major issues of society by using her undeniable talents and experience.
The skyrocketing number of murder-suicides in the urban community in the past few years has pushed her to spread awareness and give voices to real women. Recently, she has been working with her brother to start a nonprofit for abused women and the children of murder-suicide parents. Her passion for contributing to society by helping victims has enabled her to stand out among her competition and become a renowned individual in the film industry.
