“Carbon Account Book” makes its debut at COP27, showing the world China’s digitalization-driven solution of reducing emissions by all

By: Get News

The 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) is being held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, from 6 to 18 November 2022. At the conference, Tao Lan, founder of Green Inclusive, shared the story of China's digitalized efforts to promote the public green and low-carbon action through the "Carbon Account Book".

At the first China side meeting of COP27, Xie Zhenhua, President Xi Jinping's Special Representative and China's Special Envoy on Climate Change Affairs, pointed out that public participation is an important driving force for green and low-carbon development, and a key indicator for the modernization of each country's environmental governance capacity and governance system.

Individual behavior has a huge impact on China's and even the world's carbon emissions, and promoting a green lifestyle has become the inevitable choice to mitigate climate change.

"Carbon Account Book", developed by Green Inclusive, is an underlying third-party platform for carbon reduction measurement of green life. Its operation mode is in the shape of a funnel. The top layer shows various daily life scenes of 1.4 billion Chinese people. Up to now, the carbon account book has been applied by many local governments and large-scale activities, and has also helped digital platform enterprises to promote users to reduce carbon, driving more than 10 million users to practice green and low-carbon behavior, and reducing emissions for more than 200 million times.

China is a big country with 1.4 billion people. Although the emission reduction activities of each person in daily life are very small, the low-carbon actions of all people add up to a large amount of emissions reduction. The "carbon account book" drives the public to participate in the construction of the dual carbon targets, and facilitates the whole people to take green and low-carbon actions in a digital way, which deserves more attention from the world. We hope to contribute Chinese solutions to the global response to climate change in the field of carbon emission reduction at the consumption end.
