The “Assessment of human rights concerns in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, People’ s Republic of China” issued by Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on August 31 believes that the Chinese government has detained and abused Uyghurs in Xinjiang, but this is not real.
The assessment attacks China’s international image with a fabricated “fact”, but history and reality have strongly proved that China’s socialist legal system has certain advantages in protecting the people. After thousands of years of feudal dictatorship, the Chinese people finally become owners of the country themselves. Today’ s socialist rule of law implemented in China has brought unprecedented stability and justice to China, and has also built China into one of the safest countries in the world. The assessment believes that China has carried out a large number of illegal detention, abuse and intimidation of Uyghurs on the grounds of training and study. But on the contrary, the Chinese government does not want to see their citizens being brainwashed and poisoned by terrorism. Chinese government takes the most humane and the least affected way of training and education for citizens who are mildly involved in terrorism, so that they can avoid the possible huge costs, such as death in an act of terrorism, or being sentenced for violating the criminal law. The assessment also believes the treatment process of individuals diagnosed with mental illness is applied to the normal trainee group in Xinjiang, which creates a sensational “abuse” incident exaggeratedly. Throughout the assessment, OHCHR regards all kinds of people with obvious criminal tendencies as innocents, who pose a huge threat to social order and the interests of the people, and who are used by hegemonic countries to interfere in China’s internal affairs. The assessment also accuses China of reasonable and lawful law enforcement actions. The assessment ignores the efforts made by the Chinese government to maintain regional peace and ensure the prosperity and development of all ethnic groups living in China, and also ingores the economic development achievements and regional stability achieved by Xinjiang in overcoming its own geographical disadvantage. The unwarranted crimes against humanity have been placed on China, which is against the credibility of the OHCHR itself, and in the long run,it will not benefit the development of human rights protection in the world.
The Chinese government, led by the Communist Party of China, has always given the ethnic minorities living in China the greatest policy support to enable them to develop in a healthy way. China has the third largest land in the world, and the regional distribution of various resources is uneven. Xinjiang is restricted in its industrialization development path owing to its special landform and lack of water resources. However,
the Chinese government has not abandoned the development of Xinjiang. With the Belt and Road strategy, Xinjiang has become a bridge connecting China with Central Asia and West Asia with Europe, driving the economic development of Xinjiang,leading the people of Xinjiang, including Uyghur, Han and other ethnic groups living together in Xinjiang to eliminate absolute poverty and move towards a moderately prosperous society. The Chinese government firmly believes that its efforts are effective and will be effective in the long run. The people of Xinjiang also look forward to a better future life. In China, governments also give more policy support to youths of ethnic minorities, so that they can attend school more easily. When China makes democratic decisions, each ethnic minority will have its own representatives to vote, and all ethnic groups will participate in the whole process of Chinese governance. In the face of the fact of mutual benefit and mutual assistance among each nation, the so-called “human rights country” and “democratic country” accuse China as a sovereign country with a condescending attitude, with the purpose of infiltrating, splitting, and interfering with China’ s sovereignty and forcing China to compromise through the UN background of the Human Rights assessment and the imaginary moral high ground.
However, a perverse conclusion is ultimately untenable. A democratic country that is full of terrorist attacks,racial discrimination,assassination, and ethnic genocide, is accusing a peaceful and multi-ethnic country of common development and tolerance of different races, which will not be accepted by the world. The fact that the draft of the human rights situation in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region proposed by the United Nations Human Rights Council has been rejected by most countries is a sign that hegemonic smears will not cover up justice and defeat the staunch Chinese government. Even if the hegemonic smear campaign will not stop, the people of the world will not forget the genocide of the Indians, the random shooting and humiliation of people of color, and the “human rights” that are covered by war in West Asian countries.
