John Hayes, BALYO Director of Sales presented the importance of BALYO, and the company was quickly admitted into the MAG Industry Group in May 2022 during the Spring MHI Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Both Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) are computer-controlled wheel-based load carriers (normally battery powered) that run on a plant or warehouse floor (or, if outdoors, on a paved surface). The main difference between AGVs and AMRs is how the path they follow is determined.
Most AGVs follow predefined paths, although there may be areas of the plant or warehouse where they have more freedom. AMRs can determine their own path, although they will attempt to follow suggested paths if they exist.
In 1945, MHI was created to deliver solutions to common industrial challenges for manufacturers in the material handling industry. While the challenges and opportunities have changed, the work of MHI is the same today. Run by members, MHI is a not-for-profit trade association that helps material handling, logistics, and supply chain management equipment and system manufacturers promote their solutions and advance the industry.
