On May 25, the fourth event of Passion for Maritime Silk Road of Young Fujian Overseas Chinese Elites was officially kicked off in Xiamen. As an important part of this event, the 2022 Maritime Silk Road Exchange Conference of Young Fujian Overseas Chinese Elites was held both online and offline. Huang Jinfa, director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Fujian Provincial People’s Government, Wang Xuemin, member of the Standing Committee of Xiamen Municipal Party Committee and head of Xiamen United Front Work Department, Zhang Afeng, deputy secretary of Fujian Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Youth League, Li Wenshen, vice president of Fujian Overseas Friendship Association, He Xiuzhen, director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Xiamen Municipal People’s Government and Chen Junyong, chairman of Xiamen Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese attended the event. More than 100 young representatives of overseas Chinese of Fujian nationality from 40 countries and regions and overseas students in Fujian participated in the event offline to explore their roots, promote friendship and seek common development.

In his speech, Huang Jinfa said that the vast number of overseas Chinese youth are an important force to realize national rejuvenation. For a long time, generation after generation of young overseas Chinese have shared the same destiny with their homeland and forged ahead together with the motherland to make contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Overseas Chinese youth is an indispensable and important group of contemporary Chinese youth. He hoped that contemporary young overseas Chinese of Fujian nationality could draw spiritual strength from the outstanding traditional Chinese culture, have the courage to take responsibility in the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and realize their own development in the new stage of development and the construction of new Fujian.
Lin Sifeng, executive deputy director of the Advisory Committee for Policy Decision of JiMei University and former vice president of Xiamen Tan Kah Kee Research Society, delivered a lecture titled “Patriotic Feelings of Tan Kah Kee” to lead people to review the major achievements of Mr. Tan Kah Kee. Chen Ming, great grandson of Tan Kah Kee and chairman of Xiamen University Spanish Alumni Association, Lin Zhixiang, representative of Tan Kah Kee Scholarship winners, Huang Weiqiang, vice president of Fujian Association of Young Overseas Students, Li Guanhua, supervisor of Hong Kong – Xiamen Fellowship Federation, And Shi Dalin, professor of School of Environment and Ecology of Xiamen University, delivered speeches at the meeting to share their views on inheriting the spirit of Tan Kah Kee and understanding of “root, soul and dream”.
