Battery Tips for the Summer for Electric Bike Explained by HOVSCO E-Bikes US

As summer approaches, HOVSCO E-Bikes US released a new article in April 2022, about Battery Tips for the Summer for Electric Bike, the article describes in detail the precautions when using electric bicycles in summer, which can prevent many people from E-bike failure caused by misuse.

Electric bikes are the best way to enjoy summer. Whether it's visiting an old friend for the first time in years or stopping at a favorite lunch spot, people are sure to spend a lot of time on two wheels. Here are some tips for riders to keep their batteries healthy this summer so they can keep riding throughout the summer.

Protect Battery From Direct Sunlight

Riders may like to soak up the light, but e-bike batteries are less enthusiastic. Do not expose it to direct sunlight for more than an hour. If this is not possible, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, dust, debris, heat and corrosive household items. Charge the battery away from direct sunlight and high temperatures. Find a shady spot indoors between 50°F and 77°F. These simple steps can extend the life of battery. Extreme temperatures can damage e-bike components, resulting in premature capacity loss.

Don't Ride In Extreme Heat

Keeping battery healthy and preserving its range per charge is as simple as avoiding riding an Ebike when it's over 113 °F.Battery will shut down when it gets too hot, like many electronics, including most cell phones. Do not panic if it happened. As part of the normal protection controls, this happens when the internal temperature rises above 140 °. It must cool down before normal use may resume. Place the battery in an indoor environment, ideally between 50 °F and 77 °F, for about an hour.

Avoid Salt And Saltwater

While riders may find a little ocean spray refreshing in the summer, it's bad for an e-bike's battery. Salt is highly corrosive and conducts electricity. Therefore, riders are advised not to ride e-bikes in places where salt and salt water may be encountered, such as directly on the beach. Even so, if e-bike does encounter salt or salt water, there are steps that can take to minimize any damage e-bike or battery may suffer. Remove the battery and clean the battery compartment and battery tray with a dry cloth. Make sure all connections are dry and clean. Use a clean cloth dampened with fresh water to clean the bicycle frame and mechanical parts. Let them dry completely before replacing batteries. Avoid spraying water directly on electronic components such as displays or battery trays. Regular maintenance, such as lubricating the chain, is always important, but should be done more frequently when exposed to salt water or salty air. How to tell if an e-bike has been exposed to salt or salt water can usually be determined by the white chalky residue left by the salt.
