The center for parents and babies/children with developmental challenges – anything from difficulty sleeping and picky eating to autism spectrum and cerebral palsy – has announced the addition of weekend hours for use of its sensory gym.

TOTville, whose program allows children to establish core foundational skills and facilitates a broad range of basic activities and social interaction, now offers weekend groups at its much-acclaimed sensory gym, Saturdays from 12 -1 pm and Sundays from 10:30 am – 11-30 a.m. The facility’s insurance-friendly sensory gym allows kids ages 4+ to engage in supervised gross motor activity, peer interaction, and sensory exploration.
The sensory gym is a safe, structured setting where children enjoy guided play that helps them develop cognitive-behavioral abilities and improve their motor skills. Sensory play stimulates any of the seven senses, including sight, smell, touch, hearing, and taste – while letting the child have fun. Totville’s approach promotes independence, reduces stress in social situations, and helps children develop a tolerance for new bodily and environmental stimuli.
Since the center’s sensory gym also improves self-esteem and social skills, it offers children a chance to process information in a safe, fun environment: regardless of whether a child has special needs, a sensory gym promotes skill and developmental growth for all participants. While it can improve balance and help to develop coordination and whole-body awareness through the use of swings, trampolines, and therapy balls, children also must employ cause-and-effect reasoning and experience an enhanced sense of self.
Other therapies offered by the center from Monday to Friday 10-6 include those for Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs), feeding and lactation, congenital defects, musculoskeletal disorders, and much more. All therapies and treatments are administered by specialized, certified practitioners.
TOTville was founded by Yevgeniya (Jessica) Peskova. She holds a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy (OT), is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and is trained in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, Prenatal and Infant Sleep Training, Tummy Time Method, The Svetlana Masgutova Method, Beckman Oral Motor, Cranial Nerve Dysfunction in pre-crawling infants, and Ankyloglossia (TOTs).
