SaaS Company, Ohiya Networks, announced the donation of 4% equity to support the needs of two nonprofit organizations, Global Orphan Prevention and Elevation Church.
As the global Pledge 1% movement picks up momentum in encouraging startups to leverage a portion of their future success to support nonprofits in their community, Ohiya Networks has taken it a step further. This investment of 2% equity to each organization is a reaffirmation of the company’s commitment to sustained development and its philanthropic arm.
Ohiya Networks’ long-term commitment to these organizations is expected to support their planning and budgeting process through reliable income to their respective causes. It will also directly impact:
- The Global Orphan Prevention’s Girls’ Learning Center & Dormitory in Nepal, located in the #1 child trafficking district of the country. The funds will be used to empower young women in the region by providing equal access to education.
- Increase Church’s goal to serve the needs of families in the community. They are actively involved in multiple areas, including backpack giveaways, seasonal events, and homeless outreach.
Claudio Garcia, Founder of Ohiya Networks, noted that he chose both organizations because of the significant roles they play in helping children and adults.
“Children are our future, and we cannot lose sight of the importance of their upbringing, which is why I was happy to select Global Orphan Prevention,” said Garcia. “My father was a pastor and I saw the struggles from within. Like my father, Pastor Jaymes is an amazing preacher of the word of The God of Abraham, and this means a lot to me. My goal here is and always will be to build the church a building.”
Global Orphan Prevention is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works to stop orphanage trafficking and child sex trafficking through education, leadership, and social enterprise.
“It’s really heartwarming that we will get to continue our good work through consistent charitable funds. I wish more companies would pledge equity to charities,” said Katie Hilborn, Founder and Executive Director of Global Orphan Prevention. “The real value comes from the sustainability of the donation … to know upfront that we can rely on that income for our programs.”
For Increase Church, its mission is to ‘increase God’s Kingdom and purpose through community.’
“This donation gives us an incredible foundation to stand on and will make it easier in the future not to have to worry about finances when planning. We look forward to the partnership and the impact it will have on our community,” said Jaymes Maddux, Lead Pastor of Increase Church. “It is an incredible honor to have such an amazing organization invest in our vision long-term.”
Garcia says he intends not to lose sight of the objective of Ohiya Networks to provide an elite experience through well-designed processes. When addressing his plans for the future of Ohiya Networks, Garcia said, “What can’t you expect but wins and more wins. I expect nothing but exceptional returns to my investors, excellent delivery to our customers, and to continue to bless the unfortunate along the way to the top!” He acknowledged that with the continued growth and success of the company, they would be able to continuously improve the monetary value of the equity donation to these organizations.
“Claudio has a huge heart. Giving back to others and being of service is part of his ethos. We can all learn from his altruism and way of life,” said Hilborn.
