Along with the growing popularity of esports, the growth of prize money comes naturally as well. And while most esports gamers rely on streaming and additional revenue streams to generate a decent income, the best in the business make millions a year. In reality, the most successful esports players earn amounts that rival the biggest names in traditional sports. In today’s article, I present the Most Popular Esports Players in 2021.

1. Johan “N0tail” Sundstein

Johan N0tail Sundstein is a professional Dota 2 player from Denmark. Two-time The International champion with OG.

N0tail started his career with the Heroes of Newerth discipline. In March 2012, Johan, along with his Fnatic.EU teammates switched to Dota 2. With Fnatic N0tail, he achieved considerable heights. Although that team did not win big tournaments, they performed stably, and at The International 2013, they took 7th-8th place. After an unsuccessful TI4, in which Fnatic finished in 13-14 Place, the Dane left the team.

OG immediately won several Majors between 2016-2017, but they did not achieve significant success at The International. Three months before the start of TI8, Johan’s best friend Fly left the team. As it turned out later, this move was good for OG. N0tail took the position of captain, and under his leadership, the team first went through the open qualifiers for the main event of the year and then won the championship itself, earning more than $ 11,000,000. Moreover, OG won The International 2019, become the first team in a story that managed to do it twice.

2. Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko

Daniil “Zeus” Teslenko has devoted 20 years to e-sports, 9 of which to the Natus Vincere team. Dania Zeus witnessed the founding of eSports as an independent discipline and participated in its development.

At the beginning of 2019, the report says that Daniil “Zeus” Teslenko plans to end his career as a player in CS: GO. And so it happened. The last performance for the professional CS: GO player “Zeus” was the “StarLadder Major Berlin 2019” tournament that took place in Berlin from August 20 to September 8. Within the framework of this tournament, the Natus Vincere team was able to take only 8th place, for which they received $ 35,000. And so, on September 9, 2019, Daniil “Zeus” Teslenko made an official statement that he was leaving the professional scene of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. As of 2021, he earned a total of $ 689,560.

3. Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev

Alexander s1mple Kostylev is a 23-year-old cyber sportsman from Ukraine. Since 2016 he has been playing for Natus Vincere in the CS: GO discipline.

According to many, s1mple is the best player in the world. S1mple has made it into the HLTV.org annual Top 20 Players five times. In 2016, he took 4th position, in 2017 – 8th, in 2018 – 1st, in 2019-2020 – 2nd. Alexander has 13 MVP awards. S1mple was voted the most valuable player of the tournament four times when his team took 2nd place.

On March 4, 2021, s1mple set a record for the number of viewers on a personal broadcast – more than 83,000 people simultaneously watched his stream on the Twitch platform.

Along with Dmitry sh1ro, Sokolov holds the record for the number (19) of clutch situations won in one tournament.

4. Esse Vainikka

And even though he left Dota 2 pro in early 2020, Esse Vainikka is still one of the best esports gamers. Better known as “JerAx,” this Finnish professional gamer has held positions on top teams throughout his career, including Team Liquid and OG. At the time of his departure, Vainikka had made a fortune of $ 6.5 million.

5. Anathan “ana” Pham

Anathan ana Fam is a professional Dota 2 player from Australia. OG winner of The International 2018 and The International 2019.

Anathan’s career developed rapidly. In 2015, he left his native Melbourne and moved to China to grow faster as a player. In March 2016, Anathan joined Invictus Gaming, and in August, he was signed by one of the strongest teams in OG.

OG played well: won two majors and entered the top 8 at The International 2017. However, after TI7 ended, Anathan decided to take a short break. He returned in July 2018, two months before The International kicked off. OG went to the event through the open qualifiers for Europe. At the tournament itself, the team won a sensational victory. A year later, the team repeated its success.

In January 2020, Anatan reiterated his desire to take a vacation. Having missed the entire season in April 2021, Pham returned to the active roster of the team.

6. Sebastien Debs

Sebastian Ceb Debs is a professional Dota 2 player from France. Winner of The International 2018 and International 2019 with OG.

At the beginning of his career, Ceb played for numerous European teams. Among the most famous of them are mTw, Western Wolves, Sigma.int, and Alliance. Having not achieved much success as a player, in May 2016, he decided to become a coach and joined OG. Under his leadership, the team won three Majors and entered the top 8 of The International 2017.

In 2018, the results of the squad began to decline. After the reshuffles, Ceb temporarily took the place of a player, but it soon turned out that this role suited him more than the role of a coach. Contrary to all expectations, OG turned out to be the strongest at The International 2018. And a year later repeated its success, becoming the first team in history to win the main event from Valve twice.

On January 27, 2020, Ceb announced his retirement as a player but returned to OG in the summer. Through his long-playing history, Debs was able to win a total of approximately $ 5.56 million.

7. Topias Taavitsainen

Finnish pro-Topias Taavitsainen, better known as “Topson,” is another Dota 2 player. Despite being one of the most profitable players in the industry, Taavitsainen is still relatively new to the esports scene, debuting in 2017. Initially playing for SFTe-esports; then he joined 5 Anchors No Captain before assuming his current role at OG. As of 2021, Taavitsainen’s earnings on esports are approximately $ 5.5 million.

8. Kuro Takhasomi

Kuro KuroKy Salehi Takhasomi is a professional Dota 2 player from Germany. The International 2017 Champion with Team Liquid 2017.

KuroKy has participated in DotA tournaments since 2007. Since the release of the new version, he has played in such teams as GosuGamers.net, Virtus.pro, and mousesports. In February 2013, he received an offer to join the CIS line-up of Na’Vi. A career in the camp of the yellow-blacks for Kuro developed in different ways. At first, the team constantly won tournaments – however, it gave up the offensive final of The International 2013 – and was one of the best in the world. With the onset of 2014, the team performed less stable and more and more often failed at events. The final point of that line-up was The International 2014, where the “born to win” took 7th-8th place.

After the end of TI9, KuroKy announced his desire to create his organization together with former Liquid teammates. Team Nigma appeared on November 25, 2019. Now serving as a support and captain on Team Nigma, Takhasomi’s total earnings are $ 5.2 million.
