In the spirit of Malaysia Day, 80 Malaysian youths from the international youth movement, Ascendance; came together to set a new record of organizing the world’s largest international youth-led conference called the ‘New Age Learner Virtual Conference: Building the Future with Generation Z’.

This exciting online conference is made possible with the support of numerous stakeholders which includes the Malaysian Ministry of Education, teachers, parents, students, Ascendance’s corporate partners, and kind individuals worldwide.

The youth-led conference which is held on the 18th and 19th of September aims to create awareness among youngsters aged 13 to 25 years old in achieving holistic success in happiness, health, education, and passion.

“This conference is a platform that brings many exciting activities, games, and practicals that you can use to unlock your potential and at the same time find out how you can play your part in not only discovering what you love doing but also using that to change the world. I am excited to see the amazing things that all of you would be doing from here on,” said 19-year-old Harsha Ravindran, Co-Founder and Acting CEO of Ascendance during the opening ceremony of the conference. Harsha concluded her speech by inviting the Malaysian delegates to welcome the international delegates with #SelamatDatang.

The esteemed speakers of this conference are 30 young changemakers who are international award recipients aged 11 to 26 years old. They are from Malaysia, the United States of America, Bangladesh, Ireland, Italy, the United Kingdom, India, Canada, Tanzania, and Hong Kong. They shared their experiences on topics such as ‘Accepting Your Differences’, ‘Gamifying Your Passion’, Setting and Achieving Goals, ‘Solving World Problems’, and many more.

The opening speech was delivered by Professor David J. Reibstein from Wharton School, University of Pennslyvania. He quoted the following: “Many people when they speak to you would say that you are the future leaders of the world. I am not going to say that because I think you are the current leaders of the world,” perfectly summarizes the essence of the conference.

With participants from 28 countries and 600 plus teachers from more than 700 schools, this conference marks Ascendance’s first step towards their bigger vision of impacting #onemillionteens over the course of the next five years.

This weekend’s conference was catered for teenagers and young adults. Last weekend, a similar conference was held for primary school students aged 9 to 12 years old. It attracted a total of 52,000 viewers worldwide. The conference organizer, Ascendance, is expecting an overwhelming response for this weekend as well.
