Chad Norgard, Owner of Norgard Insurance Group, Inc., was named the Rotarian of the Year by the Brandon '86 Rotary Club. With the motto “service above self,” the Rotary Club recognizes award recipients for outstanding humanitarian service.

Chad Norgard, owner of local business Norgard Insurance Group, Inc., recently received the Rotarian of the Year Award from the Brandon ’86 Rotary Club. The award recognizes outstanding humanitarian service locally and globally. Each year more than 35,000 Rotary clubs worldwide select a Rotarian of the Year who has poured passion, integrity, and intelligence into completing projects that have a lasting impact.

As a member of the Brandon ’86 Rotary Club, Norgard helped raise funds for numerous local charities in the community during 2020 and beyond. Norgard played a role in projects including a Christmas party and gifts for foster children at Everyday Blessings, a teacher appreciation luncheon for 500 local teachers, and endeavors raising more than $6,500 for local charities. Organizations receiving the funds were ECHO, Everyday Blessings, Rotary Camp Florida, and Family Promise.

Norgard credits his fellow Rotary Club members for helping him achieve these accomplishments.

“I am honored to be recognized by the Brandon ’86 Rotary Club, but this is really a team award,” said Norgard. “It takes the whole club to pull off the events we did, and the ingenuity we had this past year to raise funds during such a dramatic year with the pandemic is pretty remarkable. It’s an understatement to say I am humbled to receive this award.”

According to Norgard, the club had to reinvent how it served the local community due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They had to cancel the Annual Seafood Festival, which is typically a major fundraiser for the organization each year. Through the teacher appreciation event and a holiday bourbon raffle, the club was able to raise enough funds to support their causes.

“We had to get creative to continue our annual support for these highly deserving local charities plus our continued support for international project funding,” said Norgard. “It’s a great feeling to know we can come together and make a difference in our communities and around the world, even during a challenging time like the pandemic.”

The Brandon ’86 Rotary Club has been serving the Brandon, Hillsborough County area in Florida since 1986. Globally, the club is part of a network of 1.2 million members that produce more than 16 million volunteer hours each year. The Rotary Club’s mission is “service above self.” Members from all continents and cultures come together in the spirit of making a difference in their backyards and around the world.

Norgard is thankful for the experiences he has had during his time with the Brandon ’86 Rotary Club and encourages others to get involved in a local Rotary chapter.
