KISHO is an eco-friendly sneaker brand that has come up with high-quality and stylish sneakers made from green recyclable materials.
The fashion industry has undoubtedly been a major contributor to the alarming rise in pollution today. But, what shows hope is that a bunch of green-conscious fashion brands are taking proactive endeavors to reduce carbon footprint and conserve natural resources. One of the latest to join the bandwagon is a Brussels-based sustainable footwear startup. KISHO. The indie brand has launched a unique line of eco-friendly tailor-made sneakers on Kickstarter.
KISHO is a tailor-made sneaker brand that follows the ethos of slow fashion and circular economy to ensure a sustainable operational process. KISHO sneakers are made from premium-quality sustainable and recycled materials.
“The fashion industry has been majorly responsible for the rising levels of pollution and accumulation of waste over the last few decades. A bunch of factors have led to such disastrous consequences, such as over-demand, overproduction, manufacturing with no regard to natural resources, and so on. It’s about time we start to think the other way round lest we can’t save the planet”, stated Marnik and Marike, the founders of KISHO.
“We have always been passionate about sneakers but we were also aware of the enormous waste problem that’s caused by the traditional shoe and lifestyle industry. Such a crisis inspired us to focus on a sustainable practice that will help to reduce unnecessary waste and pollution. And thus, KISHO was born. At KISHO, we practice a culture of slow-fashion which helps us to avoid unnecessary accumulation of waste and ensure a sustainable production process. Also, our sneakers are made from green recyclable materials that help us to make the best use of available resources.”
Made in a leading Portugal-based factory, KISHO sneakers follow a tailor-made approach. Interested buyers looking forward to trying a KISHO pair would have to contact the company and request for a made-to-order pair. Per the statements of the company founders, this made-to-order process helps them to avoid overproduction issues and also enables them to maintain the lowest carbon footprint during production phase.
KISHO pairs are made from eco-friendly vegetable-tanned leather – the leather by-product sourced from animal farms which is otherwise thrown to the trash bin. Besides, unlike standard leather that’s treated with toxic chemicals, leather used in making KISHO shoes is tanned following a safe ecological process.
Features of KISHO sneakers:
- Made from using eco-friendly materials like organic cotton and vegetable-tanned leather
- Recycled outsoles
- Vegetable-tanned leather lining that ensures easy breathing for feet

- Inspired by Japanese culture, writings, and architecture
The KISHO sneakers are available in unisex style and hence both men and women would be able to sport them. Customers would be able to choose from 2 unisex uppers in 2 colors.
Interestingly, KISHO follows a sustainable approach with the packaging as well. The sneakers are shipped in a recyclable package manufactured by eco-friendly Scandinavian company, Repack. Customers would be requested to send the bag back to KISHO free of charge which would also earn them discounts on their next order.
“Our sneakers are not only eco-friendly but also stylish, versatile and hardy enough to withstand daily wear and tear. They promise a truly one-of-a-kind experience that you would cherish and also love to share with close ones.
