Theorem Hair Product Company Launches New Line of Branded Merchandise to Benefit Chicago Nonprofit Devices for the Disabled

By: Get News

Phoenix, AZ – July 8, 2021 – Theorem is launching a new line of branded products to benefit the nonprofit Devices 4 the Disabled (D4D), a nonprofit dedicated to getting medical equipment to those in financial need. The partnership will officially launch on July 6, 2021 during the Theorem Virtual Hair Specialist Event. Theorem will be offering four D4D branded products, with all proceeds donated directly to D4D. The branded merchandise will include silk scrunchies, hair ties, a brush, and a heat resistant styling tools mat. All items can be purchased on the Theorem website.

D4D collects and redistributes used Durable Medical Equipment to those in need in the Chicago area. The nonprofit, which recently received a $101,000 grant from the Chicago Bears, provides wheelchairs, hospital beds, walkers, and other equipment for free because they believe no disability should prevent people from living the lives they want to live. Last year they helped over 500 families with a goal of reaching an additional 1500 families in 2021.

In 2003, while on vacation with his family, Joel Heifitz, one of the founders of Theorem, was paralyzed in a swimming accident. While in the hospital, Joel met a man named Bob Shea, who was also in the hospital suffering from paralysis as a result of Guillain Barre Syndrome. The two became friends. Five years later, Bob introduced Joel to Ed Kane, who was suffering from ALS. With one year left to live, Ed had a goal to try and get medical equipment into the hands of those that could not afford it. Out of his wish and Ed’s Legacy, Devices 4 the Disabled was born.

“Life has a way of changing you,” said D4D Co-founder Bob Shea. “I have seen firsthand how medical equipment like wheelchairs can give you your life back. My friend Ed Kane (who co-foundered D4D with Shea) was fortunate to receive the equipment he needed, but sadly, there are so many people who are unable to access the equipment they need. We’re giving Theorem product customers the opportunity to help provide the tools to help people take their lives back”

“It’s not only saving their lives but it’s giving them the freedom to live independently.” says Theorem founder and D4D Board Member, Joel Heifitz. “To really live a life, a full life like they deserve.“
