Shimoda Law Corp. hires Sacramento native, local legal advocate Eric Giersch

Shimoda Law Corp. hired Sacramento native and local legal advocate Eric Giersch to join the firm’s employment law experts. Giersch brings his experience representing businesses in premise liability and personal injury cases to advocate for aggrieved California employees in all phases of litigation.

Sacramento native and local legal advocate Eric Giersch joined Shimoda Law Corp., bolstering the firm’s team of employment law experts to represent clients in wage-and-hour, discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, and whistleblower claims in the Sacramento region.

Giersch is new to employment law but has experience in how the opposition functions, having served as counsel for businesses in liability and personal injury cases while in Long Beach, Calif.

Giersch is currently accepting new clients seeking his services for employment law litigation.

Giersch said he specifically took that role to learn litigation tactics from the plaintiff and defendant perspective after receiving his law degree from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific.

Giersch said he looks forward to using his experience and insight to thwart standard legal techniques used by businesses to give his clients at Shimoda an advantage during litigation.

Eric Giersch’s Previous Legal Experience

Before obtaining his law degree in 2019, Giersch worked as a certified law student at Community Legal Services for two years, where he advocated in the courtroom against financial elder abuse. He also helped clients in probate administration, estate planning, and bankruptcy filings. After five months, Community Legal Services promoted Giersch to Team Leader. He oversaw other student attorneys and aided them in cases, as necessary.

While in law school, Giersch volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate. In this role, his responsibilities included inquiring into the wellbeing of foster youths’ living situations, education, and overall needs. He then reported his observations to the Juvenile Dependency Court.

He became a licensed member of the California Bar in July 2020.

Giersch embarked on his professional legal career in 2017 when he served as a Summer Law Clerk at Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. While there, he researched state tax law issues, reviewed discovery documents, and analyzed evidence to assist in deposition preparation.

Before Eric Giersch’s Law Career

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with an emphasis in Public Service from the University of California, Davis. Before returning to school to pursue his Juris Doctor, Giersch worked as a financial advisor for a Fortune 500 financial services firm focused on business and family wealth management.

When not serving California employees, Giersch enjoys hiking and camping along the Sierra Nevada mountain range, traveling, and training for and completing half-marathons and marathons.
