You know that it’s not a lack of awareness or understanding that’s keeping customers from buying your stuff.

It’s also not because your products are inaccessible. So if you’re racking your brains trying to figure out why your goods aren’t selling, you need to dig deeper.

Do consumers see your products as valuable? One way to show value is through good product photography. Now, depending on what you’re selling, you may need to hire models.

That being said, if you’re selling clothes, beauty products, fitness apparel, etc., here’s what you should know about the different types of modeling. By learning about them, you’ll have no problems hiring a suitable model to help showcase your products.

Editorial, Fashion Catalog, and Runway Models

Let’s say you want your products to appear in magazines. If you’re positioning your company as a high-fashion brand, you’ll want to hire editorial fashion models. These models are the ones who appear in the editorial spreads of Vogue, Glamour, and other fashion magazines.

Another option is to go for fashion catalog models. For apparel businesses, catalog models are indispensable as they’re needed to show off various outfits in the best light.

Meanwhile, runway models are those who wear the creations of designers for fashion shows. They’re also called ramp or catwalk models. You can hire freelance runway models or through a modeling agency.

Commercial and Print Models

An editorial fashion model can also take on other commercial modeling jobs. These could be print advertisements (not just magazines) such as billboards, calendars, and banners. They could also appear in TV commercials, web ads, etc.

One advantage of this modeling type is it’s more accommodating to aspiring models. The emphasis is more on a particular look instead of height or weight.

Especially for TV or web ads, you don’t have to look for a Tyson Beckford or Kaia Gerber. Hiring a model to whom your target customers can relate is a better strategy.

Other Types of Modeling to Know

Promotional models can be spokesmodels or those who specifically work conventions and trade shows.

There are also parts models. Although a fictional character, one good example is David Duchovny’s J.P. Prewitt character in Zoolander, a hand model.

Other types of models include fitness models, plus-size models, art models, and child models. Tip: No matter what kind of model you need, the most convenient way to hire them is through a model agency. Just be sure to do your research, so you can work with one that matches your needs.
