His iconic watercolor portrait painted in the early '50s shows a hyper-realistic bust of Winston Churchill in front of the Union Jack, thereby becoming the first time in history the two British icons were commissioned to be used together on the cover of a magazine. The file included is a high-quality 5664x5279 600dpi digital drum scan.
Taylor's artwork commemorates Churchill's successful election bid and returns to the office. The artwork garnered international as well as national attention after appearing for the first time nearly 70 years ago on the cover of Colliers magazine's September 22, 1951 issue.
The winning bidder of this NFT will be the proud owner of the copyright and original artwork acknowledged by Churchill's daughter Lady Mary Soames (1922-2014) to be her favorite, according to British author and historian, Richard Langworth.
Most recently, the evocative piece has been proudly chosen by at least one prime minister to grace the cover of "Winston" by Boris Johnson, as well as the tome "Churchill by Himself" written by Langworth. Various depictions of the artwork can be seen in the pictures available in the listing.
Please note: If the winning bid is more than 30 ETH, the original framed watercolor painting (14.5" x 14.5" watercolor on board) from 1951 will be included within the auction along with the NFT.
