Thomas belonged to the Christian church in Kerala which traces its origin to St. Thomas the apostle 2000 years ago. His deep faith made him see in nature, God's creative wonder. That experience filtered through his mind and ended up on the canvas. He was a genius and believed that imperfect humans cannot depict perfection in art, so he called his paintings 'imperfect art'.

P.C. Thomas was an environmental artist who expressed his compelling innermost emotions on canvas. He was a pioneer of the environmental depiction of still-lives of nature. He was also a great humanist, school teacher, social worker, and a loving family man.
Lived in Kerala, the southern part of India popularly called God's own country. P.C. Thomas passed on in 2005 at the age of 89 without any accolades. He found solace in different forms of art, mainly oil painting. He also did a few wood sculptures. He was multi-talented and loved singing and playing musical instruments.
