Dr. Romeo graduated with his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1987. He then went on to perform his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1992, followed by his shoulder and elbow fellowship at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle in 1993.
Having spent 25 years practicing in Chicago, Dr. Romeo served as a team physician to The Chicago White Sox and The Chicago Bulls, and as a consultant for numerous NFL, NCAA, and Olympic level athletes for more than 15 years.
In 2018, he had the opportunity to move to New York City to serve as the Chief of Orthopaedics for the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in New York. His work included being on staff at Lenox Hill Hospital, as well as a full professorship in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell Health. He returned to the Chicago area in August 2020 to work in clinical leadership with the Dupage Medical Group as they developed a world-class musculoskeletal institute.
Dr. Romeo is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS), an organization establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons. He also currently serves as an editor and reviewer on several orthopaedic medical journals.
