MAY 6th, 2021 – Pillow Talk & Co. is on a mission to help couples put down their phones and build deeper connections. Founded by engaged couple, Christian Gonzalez and Isabella Vidaña, the company produces a patent-pending decorative pillow design that stores intimate conversation starters in a back-zipper pocket.
“Communication and continuing to create a deeper connection are cornerstones to just about any relationship, and we’re providing a fun, and simple way of allowing connection between loved ones,” remarked Pillow Talk & Co. Co-Founder Isabella Vidaña.
The concept was developed during the middle of the pandemic in 2020. Christian thought it would be a clever idea to store conversation starters inside a pillow, so when him and Bella got in bed at night, they would have a reminder to tune out of social media and instead, have an intimate conversation.
Studies show that adults in the U.S. spend an average of nearly six hours per day on their phone, that is 43% of the time spent awake. Further research indicates that increased screen time can elevate chances of developing mental health issues including anxiety, depression and sleep deprivation.
“It’s been a problem within our relationship,” says Christian Gonzalez, Co-Founder. “Not only had I noticed a disconnection within our relationship early on in the pandemic, I also noticed changes in my health, including having trouble falling asleep as a result of being on my phone late at night.” As a result, the couple designed a product that would function as a home decor item, as well as a constant reminder to put down your phone and engage in a conversation, not TikTok.
“Every few days we’ll choose 1-3 cards to talk about before bed,” says Brittany Eremita, who purchased a pillow in 2020. “My boyfriend and I have been together for three years and I swear, some of the things we talk about I would have never known if it wasn’t for Pillow Talk!”
