Each year, more than 91% of the world’s plastic isn’t recycled. This means more waste and even greater environmental harm for the world. Its an issue that has been greatly exacerbated by the global pandemic with record amounts of waste from gloves, masks, takeout containers, shipping materials and more. PRISM Bags is creatively tackling these issues with a stylish, thoughtfully-designed fanny pack bag designed for everyday use.
“We wanted to give women, in this day and age, a hands-free alternative to safely carry their new essentials in the pandemic, while creatively tackling existing environmental concerns worsened by the pandemic,” says Helen-Sage, Co-Founder of PRISM Bags, “We asked ourselves, ‘How fitting would it be if the perfect bag for quarantine was also made from single-use plastics?’”
The ACTIVE Recycled Fanny Pack is a radically functional and sustainable fanny pack designed to get wearers through the pandemic and beyond. The bag contains one large internal compartment perfect for lip balm and sanitizers, and an external compartment for masks, a phone, keys and more. With a 38” strap, users can wear the bag either across the shoulder or around the waist.
Each bag is made up of 100% recycled nylon which is the equivalent of one 12oz recycled water bottle. The fabric is water-resistant, lightweight and vegan. The ACTIVE Fanny Pack has also been Global Recycled Standard and BSCI Certified.
To launch, the ACTIVE Recycled Fanny Pack will be available in two colors— black with gold detailing and white with rose gold detailing.
“Throughout quarantine, women have had to adapt, as there is still a need to run errands masked up, go for an outdoor walk, or grab take-out. Rachel and I reimagined what the perfect bag for this time (and outside of it) would look like, since there’s a lack of emphasis on function in women’s fashion,” adds Helen-Sage. “Sweats and yoga pants don’t have pockets, and purses and backpacks are far too big for the work-from-home culture and we needed something casual and functional that we could run out the door with."
