The idea to first begin producing hand sanitizer came from Molson Coors Beverage Co.'s vice president of brewing, beverage and quality Martin Brooks. The struggle was finding a way to purchase ethanol. It was the senior manager at Molson Coors' Watertown facility that found a way to produce hand sanitizer internally. Tim Koel, the senior manager of operations and sales with Watertown Hops Co. at 1224 American Way, knew that the hops facility uses ethanol in its production.
