The Facility has Been Closed Until April 3

The St. Louis Training Ground in the Manchester area of St. Louis has issued a statement in response to the novel coronavirus outbreak and COVID-19. Corey Christianell, owner of the St. Louis Training Ground, has closed the facility until further notice and is monitoring the situation in accordance with CDC and Missouri State guidelines.

St. Louis Training Ground, is a community hub for a wide range of sports activities. The facility houses nearly 40 yards of space for baseball, soccer, football and other field sports. Local high school teams use it regularly for batting practice, soccer drills and the arena hosts ongoing games. Over 18 teams and baseball clubs such as the St. Louis Pros and AJAX have used the retractable three-cage setup as well as the large infield for drills. Keeping the parents of young athletes in mind, the closure of the facility falls in line with the recommendations of local and state authorities.

“As part of our effort to keep everyone as healthy as possible and in recognition of the fast-paced spread of the novel coronavirus, we have taken the precautionary steps of closing the St. Louis Training Ground until at least April 3,” said Corey Christianell, owner of the St. Louis Training Ground. “We will be reviewing the situation and adhering to the guidelines of the CDC and State of Missouri. The health and safety of all patrons of our facility and their families is our primary focus. We encourage everyone feeling ill, wherever they are, to please stay at home and appreciate their responsibility to not put others at risk.”

At the time of issuing the statement, there was just one case in St. Louis County, but local authorities anticipate that number to go up dramatically as testing for COVID-19 becomes more available.

Corey Christianell is CEO of 3 Gems Nutrition, a plant nutrient company which manufactures and markets super-concentrated professional-grade plant fertilizers for indoor and outdoor use on flowers and vegetables. Prior to that he was Director of Sports and Entertainment Marketing for Anheuser-Busch. A lifelong resident of St. Louis, Corey attended the Wharton School of Business and completed his undergraduate studies at Southeast Missouri State. He is passionate about youth sports and active in coaching his two sons.
