BB&T-SunTrust merger advances, with SunTrust set to divest 30 branches

Winston-Salem-based BB&T Corp. and Atlanta-based SunTrust Banks Inc. have gotten one big federal go-ahead to merge into Truist Bank — provided that they divest 30 SunTrust branches, including several in North Carolina.
