On President’s Day this year, the SettlePou team gathered to toast Allen Smith and honor his service as President of the Firm. Allen served as President for thirteen (13) years and under his leadership SettlePou enjoyed many successes, including being named a Top 100 Place to Work by the Dallas Morning News five (5) times, culminating in SettlePou being the Number 1 Small Company in 2018. Allen remains involved in the direction of the Firm in his new role as Chairman of SettlePou’s Board of Directors and will continue his long-term role as head of SettlePou’s Commercial Litigation Division. Allen maintains a highly successful commercial litigation practice, which focuses on eminent domain, financial services defense, and complex real estate and business disputes. For twelve consecutive years, Allen has been recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer, published by Thomson Reuters, for excellence in commercial litigation, and he has been Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Trial Law for more than twenty-six (26) years.
Dan Tobin succeeds Allen as the President of SettlePou. Dan began his legal career at SettlePou as a part of its clerkship program in 2001, while he was a first-year law student at SMU’s Dedman School of Law, and subsequently joined the Firm upon his graduation in 2004. Dan has vast experience in the litigation and transactional practices of the Firm, representing businesspersons, property owners, and general counsel nationwide during each phase of the business cycle, from transaction, to pre-litigation disputes, to lawsuits. Dan has been selected repeatedly in Texas Super Lawyers, Rising Stars Edition, published by Thomson Reuters. Additionally, Dan has been involved in many facets of the Firm’s management, including serving as Vice President in 2018 when the Firm was named the Number 1 Small Company in the Dallas Morning News’ Top 100 Places to Work.
