The maker admits it may inherit some of the criticism, or titillating attraction once ascribed to Twister®, made by Hasbro®. But it's really a serious business endeavor according to inventor Lonn Dugan, President of BIG Marketing Solutions LLC.
Twisted Seniors™ has been invented with some changes to the basic idea to engage the senior market for fun party games. Twisted Seniors™ is billed by its creator as "A fun game for people who don't bend the way they used to anymore!™." The game mat is hung on a wall, not placed on the floor. "Only the hands are used so that nobody falls," says Dugan.
THE HISTORY OF TWISTER
Twister is an unrelated game of physical skill, produced by Milton Bradley Company and Winning Moves, that has been inducted into the American National Toy Hall of Fame (Wikipedia, n.d.). Fox news has reported that the game was originally called Pretzel but was renamed Twister when it was sold it to the Milton Bradley Company (Associated Press, 2013).
A patent was applied for in April of 1966 covering the method of play for Twister and a patent was subsequently issued in 1969 under patent number Patent No. 3,454,279 (U.S.P.T.O. 1969). That patent has since expired due to the passing of time (ibid).
SEX IN A BOX?
Milton Bradley itself billed the Twister game as "the game that ties you up in knots (Associated Press, 2013)." The original Twister game almost failed initially but then became an overnight sensation when Johnny Carson famously crawled over top of Eva Gabor during a Tonight Show episode while playing the game on live television.
Eva was on her hands and knees wearing a short skirt when this happened. "Competitors accused Milton Bradley of creating an adult game... Calling it 'sex in a box' (ibid)." Three million copies sold in the following year (Ward, 2009) so the game obviously had a broad appeal!
NAUGHTY BUT NICE?
The game of Twister soon became a sort of naughty but nice party game. It is famous for the way it 'innocently' places men and women in seemingly compromising positions. Hasbro Inc., which now manufacturers the game, said it continues to be a top seller. "What makes the Twister game timeless is the fact that it's always been about showing off your free spirit and just having some laugh-out-loud, out-of-your-seat fun," Hasbro said in a statement...(ibid)
So, assuming there is still nothing wrong with being a free spirit, even if the body won't cooperate in assuming certain positions, "Seniors can have a little fun playing Twisted Seniors™ without having to get down on the floor," says Dugan.

The Twisted Seniors™ game makes a great addition to any game collection for those too chaste to play Twister or those whose bodies don't bend the same way they used to due to age or health related issues such as Arthritis.
