Group Honoring Black WWI Veterans Gets Award

By: PRLog
WASHINGTON - Sept. 13, 2018 - PRLog -- Being committed to honor and educate the public of the sacrifices made by African American servicemen, a century ago, is getting more recognition. On September 14th the Congressional Black Caucus Veterans Braintrust (CBCVB) will present Ebony Doughboys, the nation's only organization educating the public about African American combat service in the First World War, with its annual award. The ceremony and gala reception starts at 6:00 PM in room 2043 of the Rayburn House Office Building located on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

The CBCVB advocates for the well-being of African American veterans, their families, communities and image. This veteran population is growing. According to the Pew Research Center, by 2045 they will increase from 12 to 16 percent. "Both organization's missions intersect where it concerns 'who we represent and the shoulders we stand on,'" said Art Collins founder, and veteran, of the living-history group who will be accepting the award presented by the Ron E. Armstead, Executive Director of the Congressional Black Caucus Veterans Braintrust. The event is free and open to the public.
