Positive Train Control – it’s an automated technology on the tracks that can slow an out-of-control train. And it’s been in the news in the days following a deadly train derailment in Washington State, where the technology was implemented, but not yet up and running. In North Carolina, a PTC system is also implemented along much of its rail footprint. But, like in Washington, it isn’t actually operational yet, a review of the data shows.
