The Musical Group “Filles et Fils du Ziriab”: The Nobility of Music in the Service of Peace

In order to honor the musical richness of the Moroccan heritage, the International Festival of Ibn Battuta is inviting to its second edition, to be held from 9 to 12 November 2017, the musical group “Filles et Fils du Ziriab” to put its love for peace and tolerance into singing.

Being an Emeritus Musical Group and School, “Filles et Fils du Ziriab” will perform a concert during the festival that will appeal to all lovers of the traditional Moroccan repertoire.

“Filles et Fils du Ziriab”, best known for its refined style and mastery of the Andalusian repertoire, will animate a night where peace will be in the spotlight, thereby contributing to creating harmony among peoples through music.

Mr. Mohamed DEKKAK, honorary president of the Moroccan Association of Ibn Battuta, insists that the participation of the musical group “Filles et Fils du Ziriab” will add a classical touch to the varied programme that the festival has to offer, and will help a large number of people to discover our heritage, and reconcile the new generations with our cultural treasures.

For his part, Mr. Aziz BENAMI, founding president of the association, specifies that Tangier deserves a festival worthy of the name, an eclectic festival where the public will be able to rediscover the pleasures of living together around a variety of shows and activities animated by famous troops such as “Filles et Fils du Ziriab”

The second edition of the International Festival of Ibn Battuta is an opportunity for both the Moroccan and international audience to underline the kingdom’s attachment to values of peace and cooperation that have always been a national pride, and will contribute at the same time to making our musical traditions and innovations known.

Tangier is inviting you to come and relish art and culture and to express your love for peace and travel as a means of discovering the world’s cultures.
