SEMINOLE, Fla. - Oct. 24, 2017 - PRLog -- When visitors to the set of Polterheist, a short film combining elements of ghost encounters with bank robbery, listen to the sounds you hear on a movie set they will find themselves entering rarified air. That is, they may not even notice how the stage camera directions were called out by a female voice.
Not only does a female's direction amidst a vastly male-dominated industry stand out as different, it originated from the voice of a younger person. In fact, it's coming from a 19-year-old girl. And yet the film's director Austin Spicer was delighted to bring her on board as their Director of Photography.
Research shows such status is extremely uncommon in today's film business. Women "make up less than 4% of the membership of the American Society of Cinematographers"
Indeed Hailey Halterman comes across as fun, energetic and skilled at her craft. She has done numerous weddings and music videos in recent years to develop her skillset. Today, Halterman clearly offers the cast and crew of Polterheist a professional maturity that goes well beyond her years.
On this film she is teamed with fiancé Austin Spicer, who produced, wrote and directed Polterheist. Hailey says she wants to be part of a growing movement: more women going into film. As for being so young, statistics show that today's film business is full of millennials who bring their individual talents to the movie industry.
Polterheist is a short film which the two owners of Spicer Productions have been working on for some time. The premiere of Polterheist happens at Friday October 27th 2017 at Night of Expressions Event 12629 Ulmerton Rd, Largo, FL 33774. Austin and Hailey plans to enter it in numerous local film festivals. These kinds of productions have led the way for numerous recent college graduates and millennials to gain valuable experience in honing their crafts. Spicer hopes that Hailey's recent film projects will lead to more opportunities for them and others who have "Hollywood aspirations."
She has only been involved in the production of videos and film for a few years now. "I love what I'm able to do and I appreciate the support of everyone on this team," Hailey said. Spicer plans to use this film as a concept film to show investors and make it into a feature film.
