ORO VALLEY, Ariz. - Nov. 9, 2016 - PRLog -- The Arizona State Historic Preservation Office, the Arizona Preservation Foundation, Arizona State Parks, Arizona Main Street, and the City of Phoenix Historic Preservation Office invite you to join them at the 15th Annual Arizona Historic Preservation Conference.
The goal of the conference is to bring together more than 350 historic preservationists from around the Southwest to exchange ideas and success stories, to share perspectives and solutions to preservation issues, and to foster cooperation between the diverse Arizona preservation communities.
At this year's conference, we will focus on how nature affects preservation, whether protecting our historic and cultural resources from the damaging effects of nature, preserving our natural historic and cultural landscapes, or ensuring that our valuable resources are preserved within their natural setting. Nature touches every preservation project to some degree and should be considered a critical component when planning any preservation project.
The 2017 Arizona Historic Preservation Conference will feature a half-day of pre-conference training workshops, two days of 50-minute breakout sessions, and several keynote / featured speaker presentations. Session topic areas include:

Presenters and panel discussion leaders are encouraged to submit a proposal for presentations relating to historic preservation's best practices, project management successes, preservation action plans, economic development, sustainability, archaeological implications and issues, new preservation funding sources, newly approved preservation techniques, forward-thinking programs, and insofar as they relate to the theme of "It's In Our Nature." The deadline to submit a presentation proposal is December 5, 2016. No presentation proposals will be accepted by email, fax, or mail; on-line submission only. The conference also features the Historic Preservation Awards. The 36th Annual Governor's Heritage Preservation Honor Awards, presented by the State Historic Preservation Office and the Arizona Preservation Foundation, recognize people, organizations, and projects that represent outstanding achievements in preserving Arizona's prehistoric and historic resources. The 30th Annual Governor's Awards in Public Archaeology are also presented at the event. These awards, selected by the Governor's Archaeology Advisory Commission, recognize excellence in archaeological awareness, conservation and education. The awards make the conference more than a venue to learn, debate and network, but also a celebration of outstanding historic preservation efforts and achievements.
The annual Arizona Historic Preservation Conference is developed and orchestrated jointly by Arizona State Parks, the (AZ) State Historic Preservation Office, the National Park Service, the Arizona Preservation Foundation, Main Street Arizona, the Governor's Archaeological Advisory Commission, and the Arizona Archaeological Council. The host city partner for 2017 is the Town of Oro Valley.
