Readers' Favorite recognizes "Through a Mother's Eyes" in its 2016 International Book Award Contest

By: PRLog
The 2016 Readers' Favorite International Book Award Contest featured thousands of contestants from over a dozen countries.
PHOENIX - Sept. 27, 2016 - PRLog -- Readers' Favorite has become the fastest growing book review and award contest site on the Internet. They have earned the respect of renowned publishers like Random House, Simon & Schuster, and Harper Collins, and have received the "Best Website for Authors" and "Honoring Excellence" awards from the Association of Independent Authors. They are also fully accredited by the BBB (A+ Rating), which is a rarity among Book Review and Book Award Contest companies.

In addition to reviewing for some of the biggest names in the literary industry, as well as the first time independent author, they host a respected award contest, which features entries from new authors to NYT best-sellers, as well as celebrities like Jim Carrey and Henry Winkler.

"Readers' Favorite is proud to announce that 'Through a Mother's Eyes' by Cary Allen Stone is a Finalist in the Non-Fiction – True Crime category in our 2016 International Book Award Contest."

"Through a Mother's Eyes" is a case study of filicide or the parental murder of children. Julie took the life of her six-year-old son, Charley.

Imagine taking your child out of school early, the child saying goodbye to his friends and teacher. Imagine stopping at McDonald's to buy your son his favorite meal and eating in a park. Imagine stopping at a pharmacy to purchase Benadryl, Lopressor, and razor blades. Imagine checking into a hotel and staying up late to read his favorite dinosaur books and watch Nickelodeon. Imagine you tell your trusting son to take six Benadryl tablets and several Lopressor tablets. Imagine watching every facial expression as you hold your son in your arms, kiss his forehead, and say goodbye. Imagine he begins to convulse from the medications he swallowed. Imagine taking a razor blade and cutting his wrists the wrong direction. Imagine, since you did it wrong, you try to cut through his neck. Imagine he becomes quiet, and you believe he has finally died, but you don't want him found covered in his blood. Imagine you take him to the bath to wash the blood off. Imagine you learn later that your son drowned. What if what you imagined was true? "Through a Mother's Eyes" is that true crime story.

I sat inside a cell with a legal pad and voice recorder doing the interview. We started from the day she was born to the night of the murder and her incarceration. She re-lived killing Charley two feet from me. I saw the tension in her entire body. I watched her panicked motions cutting his wrists and throat, and the tears pouring from her mother's eyes. I knew Julie before the murder and might have had a chance to stop it. What's difficult to understand is that she loved Charley more than anything. After I had left her cell, I had to decompress so I wouldn't have tears in my eyes leaving the correctional facility.

"This has to be one of the most poignant heart-wrenching books I have ever read. A woman so driven to protect her child she takes his life. We often hear about women who murder their children, and those of us mothers cannot understand how someone can do that, but the truth of the matter is it is all in this book." – Pam Thomas Reviews
