Tulsa Youth Symphony Orchestra and Oral Roberts University Business School Announce Partnership

By: PRLog
ORU students to focus their creative energies developing new ways to use technology and niche marketing to accelerate growth and expansion of the orchestra.
TULSA, Okla. - Oct. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- The Tulsa Youth Symphony Orchestra and Oral Roberts University have announced a partnership with the ORU College of Business centered on growth and expansion of the orchestra’s programs.

Over the next school year, ORU will offer three classes with coursework centered on enhancing marketing and social media, and strategic expansion of the orchestra’s student programs.  “The goal of our classwork is to help the Youth Symphony leverage the successes of programs like those in Boston, Chicago, New York, and Dallas,” said Bruno Teles, ORU Instructor of Marketing.  “We want our students to think creatively about how an organization can most effectively increase visibility, funding and event attendance using new technology, niche marketing and local relationships.  The Youth Symphony is a great program for us to work with given their long history in Tulsa, talented students, growing program and cadre of successful alumni.”

The courses include graduate and undergraduate courses led by instructors Steven Rydin and Jane Malcolm.  TYSO Board President Stephen Curry said, “The Board of Directors is very excited about the University's new program, and the opportunity to bring a fresh, innovative approach to our marketing and technology.”  Ron Wheeler, Executive Director of TYSO said, “The orchestra and I have had a long, fruitful history with ORU.  We look forward to working with Instructors Malcolm, Rydin and Teles and their students, and are eager to gain their creative insights into how we could adapt new technology to help us bring great musical experience to students throughout Northeastern Oklahoma.”

The Tulsa Youth Symphony Orchestra began their 52nd season in September, with the first concert scheduled for Monday, November 23rd, at 7:30, in the Union High School Performing Arts Center.
