The coolest film project on Kickstarter isn't a film at all

By: PRLog
Cross-breed a horror movie and an online role-playing game and you get the interactive thriller DAEMON 9.
LOS ANGELES - Oct. 4, 2015 - PRLog -- It begins with an eerie account of a little-reported murder in a California college town. Morgan Shane and Anna Hendricks were roommates and lifelong BFFs until this past March when Anna was brutally murdered -- by Morgan. Then, Morgan mysteriously disappeared, but not before leaving a trail of bloodshed in her wake, including two California Highway Patrolmen. Told in documentary style by a crusading young truth-seeker on a self-published website, savemorganshane.org, the story of Daemon 9 features a character you’ve never seen in any movie before -- you.

The viewer is at the heart of the story, and becomes embroiled in the intrigue in a way that feels frighteningly real. The characters speak to you, send you texts and emails. And when you learn that a malevolent evil force has taken Morgan Shane, you must embark on a web-wide hunt to save her -- and yourself.

Daemon 9 is the brainchild of screenwriter and filmmaker Jeffrey Jackson, who describes it as “more than just a thriller or a game -- it’s really an experiment in a whole new way to tell and experience a story.”

Jackson launched the project on Kickstarter on Oct. 1st. He hopes to raise $100K by Halloween to complete the project and launch it wide in the Spring. Backers who pledge the anticipated sale price of $19 or more will receive full streaming access to the game upon its release -- in essence, an advance order. People who wish to further back the project are offered a range of rewards that offer everything from T-shirts to a cameo appearance in the story itself.
