PRLog - April 28, 2015 - ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- AFC Ann Arbor will officially kick off its inaugural season Friday May 1st vs. San Marino. The first match of the season is slated for a 7pm start time, but fans are encouraged to arrive early to partake in some of the great pre-game activities taking place at Pioneer High School’s Hollway Field.
On Tuesday April 21st, AFC Ann Arbor unveiled their club’s inaugural kits and announced a long-term partnership with title sponsor, Bank of Ann Arbor. As part of the new partnership, Bank of Ann Arbor will also be the presenting sponsor of the club’s first home game, Friday May 1st. The first 300 fans will receive a free AFC Ann Arbor lanyard, compliments of Bank of Ann Arbor. The giveaway is one of many match day experiences fan can look forward to.
Here’s what fans can expect on May 1.
Nacho Station & Food Trucks
Ann Arbor favorite BTB Burrito will have their Nacho Station as the official concessions of AFC Ann Arbor along with food trucks from all over southeast Michigan. We’ll begin announcing what food trucks will be on-site for the first game beginning Monday, April 27th.
Live Music
Dave Menzo, songwriter, musician and producer, will be performing live before the game with hits from his album Color Wheel amongst other favorites from his collection. Dave Menzo is a solo artist who has the pleasure of playing with a few bands and many talented musicians
Tree of Life Drum and Dance Society (Chelsea, MI)
High energy drum and dance theatre of cultures from around the world blended with contemporary movements and beats that will be in the stands all game long for every home AFC Ann Arbor match.
National Anthem
Ross Huff of The Macpodz on trumpet (Ann Arbor)
Merchandise
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase t-shirts, hoodies, scarves, replica jerseys and more on game day, but if you want to arrive in style, be sure to stop by either of the Main St. Underground Printing locations beginning May 1st to get your official match day gear.
Parking
Parking is FREE! Purchase an adult membership for only $99 and you’ll be upgraded to the VIP lot.
Giveaways
The first 300 fans will receive a FREE lanyard complimentary of Bank of Ann Arbor. Arrive early because there is a limited supply. Gates open at 6pm.
The first 500 fans will receive a FREE match day program compliments of MAD Creative Concepts. These keepsake programs unfold into a limited edition player poster as well, perfect for post-match autographs.
Kids Activities
YMCA Kids Skills Zone
Kids of all ages will have a chance to take part in the YMCA Kids Skills Zone. Kids will have an opportunity to fine-tune their skills with some of the best instructors in town. They’ll also have a chance to test their speed and be clocked by our official speed gun to compare their speed against top AFC Ann Arbor players.
Futsal Powered by A2 Sportsplex
The Michigan Futsal Academy, housed out of the A2 Sportsplex, will be on-site hosting some pre-game futsal and skills building in the parking lot before the game.
Audi of Ann Arbor Post Game Autographs
Fans who want to stick around and meet the players after the match will have a chance to shake some hands and grab some autographs compliments of AFC Ann Arbor’s Official Vehicle, Audi of Ann Arbor.
Face painting
Who doesn’t want to get their face painted before a soccer match? Kids will have the opportunity to get their face painted at no charge prior to the game up until the end of the first half.
AFC Ann Arbor was founded in 2014 to bring minor league soccer to Ann Arbor and the surrounding communities. The team will compete in the inaugural season of the Great Lakes Premier League as a founding club. The club will be made up of amateur players from the area and recruited from top college programs across the state and country.
