Gannett Broadcasting Names Bob Sullivan Senior Vice President of Programming

Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) has named Bob Sullivan senior vice president of programming for Gannett Broadcasting. Sullivan comes to Gannett from Scripps Media, Inc. where he held a similar title. In this new role, Sullivan will develop a pipeline of non-news local content on traditional and new platforms across Gannett and for national syndication. Sullivan will also be responsible for all group syndication negotiations.

Sullivan is returning to Gannett, where he spent several years in a number of key leadership roles, including president and general manager of WUSA in Washington, DC, news director and station manager at KPNX in Phoenix, AZ, news director at WTLV in Jacksonville, FL and assistant news director at KUSA in Denver, CO.

“Creating high quality, internally produced original programming is an important strategic priority for Gannett Broadcasting and Bob’s unique background in brand development, station management and content creation makes him an ideal fit in this new role,” said Dave Lougee, president, Gannett Broadcasting. “Bob has extensive experience creating entertaining programming as well as negotiating syndication and carriage contracts. We look forward to Bob joining the team and welcoming him back to Gannett.”

From 2006 through 2010, Sullivan was president of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee where he oversaw brand development, marketing, sponsorship, sales, media and public relations, security, public safety, emergency services, operations, government relations, community outreach and NFL relations for Super Bowl XLII. He also produced, wrote and presented three bids to host future Super Bowls in Arizona. During that time, Sullivan also owned Sullivan and Associates Consulting, Inc., a full service brand development, marketing, strategic planning and coaching consultancy company, and served as president and CEO.

Sullivan holds a BA in Communications Management/Business Administration from Carroll College in Waukesha, WI. He will begin on March 23.
