Anheuser-Busch ‘Lost Dog’ Wins 27th Annual USA Today Ad Meter

Anheuser-Busch ‘Lost Dog’ was ranked the top commercial in the 27th annual USA TODAY Ad Meter, the most widely recognized barometer and industry-leading tool used to measure public opinion surrounding Super Bowl advertising. The winning spot starred a puppy who gets lost but eventually finds its way home. The ad was similar to last year's Anheuser-Busch ‘Puppy Love’ ad, which also won USA TODAY Ad Meter. This is Anheuser-Busch’s third consecutive USA TODAY Ad Meter win and its 13th overall, the most all-time.

More than 6,700 panelists from across the country voted on Super Bowl commercials in this year’s USA TODAY Ad Meter, an increase of more than six percent from 2014. New this year, participants could register through the end of halftime of the Super Bowl on a redesigned mobile and social friendly platform, similar to USA TODAY Sports’ popular For The Win. Panelists voted on every national ad that aired immediately following the coin toss through the end of regulation, giving each ad a numerical score, from 0-10, via a password-protected website. The winning ad was determined by the highest average score.

The top five ads, as voted upon by this year’s Ad Meter panel, including final ratings are:
1- Anheuser-Busch – Lost Dog – 8.10
2- Always – Like a Girl – 7.10
3- Fiat – Blue Pill – 6.87
4- Microsoft – Braylon – 6.74
5- Doritos – Middle Seat – 6.71

Also new this year, global digital marketing leader Adobe has partnered with Ad Meter to examine the winning online ads and leading brands based on five criteria including social media buzz volume, sentiment, ad spend, global reach and social media buzz growth compared to average daily volumes.

USA TODAY created the Super Bowl Ad Meter in 1989 to gauge consumers' opinions about television's most expensive commercials. All the Super Bowl ads, as well as complete results and analysis, can be seen at admeter.usatoday.com. Results are also available in Monday’s editions of USA TODAY.
