PRLog - Jan. 29, 2015 - SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- The McGregor Metalworking Companies have been selected and approved as a Tier One supplier to Honda of America. In this capacity McGregor will be responsible for supplying Honda’s plants in Anna and Marysville, Ohio with a wide array of metal stampings and welded assemblies for Honda’s engine and assembly plants.
“We have enjoyed an indirect relationship with Honda as a Tier 2 supplier for more than 20 years. Becoming a direct supplier elevates the opportunity for McGregor to grow while at the same time solidifies Honda’s expectation for McGregor to execute flawlessly on the parts and assemblies that have been awarded to us," commented Jim Baldwin, Vice President of Sales for The McGregor Metalworking Companies. “The stakes are huge for McGregor. Honda initially contacted McGregor in October of 2014 with an opportunity to supply a significant amount of existing parts being moved from a troubled supplier in Michigan. Time was short and the situation was dire. McGregor representatives dispatched a team of technical personnel immediately to review the specifics of the opportunity and develop a plan to move the work without disrupting Honda’s supply chain. “Most of the components we supply on a daily basis so one missed shipment during the transition could have resulted in a ‘line down’ situation for Honda. This was something we had to avoid at all costs,” said Jammie Robbins, Senior Sales Account Manager for McGregor.
Working 7 days a week for a period of more than 60 days enabled McGregor to absorb the new business without any disruptions to an assembly line. “Our ability to adapt deftly to the demands of our customers is what really sets McGregor apart. Honda recognizes this and our hope is that our outstanding service and quality will be rewarded with additional chances to expand our breadth as a supplier,” said Tom Wright, President, McGregor Metalworking. “Part of Honda’s success depends on suppliers like us and we will not let them down,” he added.
