PRLog - Mar. 26, 2014 - NORMAN, Okla. -- On Friday, April 11, Detroit Lions wide receiver Ryan Broyles and former University of Oklahoma standout Corey Wilson will host the 2nd Annual Ball-For-A- Cause Celebrity Basketball Game at Norman North High School (1809 Stubbeman Ave, Norman, OK 73069) in Norman, to raise funds for the Ryan Broyles Foundation that launched Project 84 last year helping children, families and special needs individuals.  Corey Wilson’s team will be playing for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation benefiting spinal cord research.

Guests will enjoy watching some of their favorite former University of Oklahoma Sooner football players’ trade in their cleats for basketball shoes and play for charity.  Throughout the game there will be giveaways, a silent auction, special halftime show put on by the Norman and Norman North High School cheer teams, concessions and other great surprises!

Broyles launched Project 84 in Detroit  in 2013 where he began selling Ryan Broyles Foundation tee shirts on www.RyanLBroyles.com for $25 each. Each tee shirt sold helped feed one Metro Detroit family this past Thanksgiving.   Broyles provided 84 families in Detroit a Thanksgiving dinner and helped provide toys for foster children during the holidays.

Corey Wilson was injured while playing for University of Oklahoma and by overcoming many obstacles; his passion is to help spread awareness and raise funds for others that have experienced injuries like he had. Wilson has carefully selected the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation as the recipient of this event helping fund spinal cord research.

“Being able to give out 84 Thanksgiving meals last year in Detroit was such a blessing, I was able to meet people in the community and could see they really appreciated the effort of giving them the food they needed for their families,” said Broyles.  “This event will help us raise money to continue to help more families in Detroit, here in Norman and eventually we will have mission trips helping kids and families all over the world.  When Corey asked me to be a part of this event here in my hometown I was really excited, he’s a great friend of mine and it will be great to raise money for two great causes.”

“When I decided to host this event last year I was looking forward to hopefully having this year after year to raise money and awareness for spinal cord research.  We had a great turnout of over 300 people last year and we hope to double this number this year to grow the event and raise more money to help each of our causes that are very important to myself and Ryan,” says Corey Wilson, founder of the Ball-For-A-Cause Annual Event.
