• Scottsdale. Yes, it’s hot, but summer is also when hotel rates and greens fees drop. Golfers can get in nine early in the morning, cool off by the pool, then go out again in early evening.
• Las Vegas. This gambler’s paradise continues to be a big draw even when the temperatures rise. Visitors looking for an available hotel room at a great price should try to stay mid-week, when a 4-star hotel room can be had for about the same price of a 2- or 3-star on the weekend.
