Dr Raymond Wolf Provides Vein Restoration for Chronic Venous Insufficiency

By: PRLog
Chronic venous insufficiency is a condition with many long time sufferers who experience cramping, swelling and pain in the legs while standing. affecting more than 40 percent of people the United States. It is even more common in people over the age of 50, especially women. Dr. Raymond Wolf of Dr. Wolf's Rejuvenation Center in Dayton Ohio, who specializes in vein therapy, utilizes a unique approach to treat CVI and those who suffer from this condition.
PRLog - Feb. 28, 2014 - DAYTON, Ohio -- Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when the valves in the deeper leg veins begin to work ineffectively in keeping blood moving upward toward the heart. As they become blocked or if blood is leaking around the valve of the veins the veins stay filled with blood. This condition is intensified when the person is standing.

Because the veins cannot perform their normal function of returning blood to the heart from the body's organs, the blood begins to "pool" and collect in the veins (called stasis). Stasis creates elevated blood pressure in the veins for long periods of time leading to CVI. Some of the root causes of the valve damage that leads to CVI are aging, extended sitting or standing, reduced mobility due to obesity or pregnancy, being tall and/or a family history of this condition.

CVI most commonly occurs as the result of a blood clot in the deep veins of the legs, a disease known as deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Chronic venous insufficiency that develops as a result of DVT is also known as post-thrombotic syndrome. Nearly 30 percent of people with DVT will develop this problem within 10 years after diagnosis.

Dr. Wolf is a cosmetic surgeon who specializes in vein treatment and therapy for those who suffer from spider veins, varicose veins, CVI and DVT. He explained, "Dr. Wolfs Rejuvenation Center offer complete phlebology approaches to manage deep vein thrombosis and also venous disease of the superficial venous system. The differences are that we perform the ultrasound here in our office and it's different than a hospital ultrasound where the focus is deep vein thrombosis and not the management of the superficial venous system."

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Dr. Wolf explained the treatments utilized at his practice.

It is a common assumption that this type of treatment requires intensive therapy or is very expensive. A spokesman from the practice explained, "Most varicose veins and spider veins will not require surgery and can be treated at an affordable fee. Some conditions that are medical related will usually covered by insurance."
