Eric Holland Announces New Album Amnesty

Fourth Studio Album Highlights Immigration and Border Reform
PRLog - Jul 05, 2013 - SAN CARLOS, Mexico -- Sonora-based musician Eric Holland announced the release of Amnesty, his fourth album.

Amnesty celebrates memorable moments from Holland’s first three albums; Without Borders, American Inmigrante, and Borders, Battles and Beers. New material includes the album’s signature, Amnistía, Guanajuato, Big House (Casa Grande) and a new version of Andalé, Andalé.

Recorded at Lamont Studios in Holland's native Arizona, the tracks are spun together with provocative vocals, often accompanied by native Spanish speakers. Cello, violin, accordion and Mexican horns are common threads. The lyrically driven songs relate immigrant experiences at America’s southern border. At times, they are both tragic and triumphant, equals parts hope and heartache. Biographical ballads depicting the lives of Chavez, Zapata and Pancho Villa round out the track list.

“As a better musician than me once said, ‘The times they are a changing,” Holland commented. “Jose is now the most common name of newborns in the Southwest. Border reform is being debated in Congress. The Dream Act makes new things possible for a new generation.” Holland's inspiration springs from the decade he taught English as a Second Language in Arizona. The unifying message of Amnesty? We are all immigrants.
