PR Log - May 16, 2012 - NaTHNaC (the National Travel Health Network and Centre), supported by the Health Protection Agency is recommending that long term travellers and children should be vaccinated to reduce the risks of contracting Salmonella Typhi when visiting Egypt.
Salmonella is transmitted through contaminated food and water and it is hoped that these vaccinations for Salmonella Typhi will reduce the potential for contracting salmonella by 50-80%. The vaccination does not mean that you are completely risk free of catching a travel bug like salmonella so we advise all holidaymakers to adopt sensible hygiene including regular hand washing in hot soapy water to help reduce the risk.
